JCJ Architecture has been retained by the Borough of Naugatuck to perform a District-Wide Facilities Utilization Study, the final product of which will be suggestions for consideration by the Board of Education to address the need of all of Naugatuck’s existing schools.
JCJ met with school administrators and teachers in October to look at how the schools are addressing the current educational needs and what the educator’s thoughts are relative to the next 10 years of public education in Naugatuck.
JCJ is now looking for input from parents, students and members of the community to study the existing conditions, to look at how the schools are functioning, and what options might be feasible moving forward, to provide the best possible educational opportunities for the Naugatuck community.
Please take the time to review the Board of Education 2009-10 Budget History and Rationale to gain the necessary understanding as to how the current budgetary challenges faced by our district have unfolded.
On November 25, 2009, Board Chairperson Kathleen Donovan received a proposal from the Naugatuck Teachers' League (NTL) for concessions. The Board thanks the NTL for re-considering the Board's earlier proposal for contract concessions, and looks forward to working together in the interests of our students and community.
We have been informed that Naugatuck Public Schools have seen an increase in flu-like illness among their students. We believe that some of these students may be ill with novel influenza H1N1 (also known as "swine flu"). The ill students have been asked to remain at home until at least 48 hours after they are fever free (1000F), or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications**, and their parents have been advised to contact their medical providers with any questions or concerns. 08-09 School Achievement Results & Measured Outcomes Now Available
Written by Rick Rua
The School Achievement Results & Measured Outcomes Reports were introduced by the Superintendent as a process to uniformly report the status and progress of each school within the district. The reports will serve to clarify school and program-based performance goals and priorities. School Achievement Results & Measured Outcomes Reports provide each school community opportunities to influence annual priorities within the context of the school district’s three-year goals. Each June, principals and program leaders will collect specific performance data to analyze and portray informed specific progress toward key student performance indicators and other school improvement initiatives. The participation in creating and sharing the student and school performance information results in a shared commitment and an improved sense of organizational purpose and coherence at both the school and district level.
